I haven't had a download problem yet (knock on wood!), though I'm still using Windows 7. What I've seen here and in other thread is that folks using Windows 10 have been reporting this problem. I wish that were true, but it isn't. I have both W7 & W10 in different locations and it happens to both. It only needs one problem task to ruin the whole machine's workload |

I've been getting these stalled downloads for the past week on all 3 of my machines. I've had to manually check and clear out the downloads, since they never self-resolve even with retries. I'm still getting them today. Windows and Linux apps. |

Same here, quite annoying. |

Well, me and my Windows 7 machines are not alone in this "stalled download" problem. Just got my 1st one today. Will using "abort transfer" truly clear the problem WU out so more jobs can be downloaded? Thanks. |

Will using "abort transfer" truly clear the problem WU out so more jobs can be downloaded? Thanks. I do both abort transfer and abort task just to ensure it's 'totally aborted'. Then manually updating the project should clear the queue and download new tasks. I've only encountered stuck download queue behavior on my Linux boxes, where BOINC still thinks there are stalled downloads, despite me having cleared them. A restart of the boincmgr fixes that issue. |

Now I have a SETI WU stuck too. What IS going on? Are two servers conspiring against me, or is it all the same thing? |

Same problem here with both Linux and Win10 Had to aborted the stuck WUs to get it going again. Can't babysit all day though |

The ones that are destined to download will do so - even if there's one or two hanging. I just wish there were a higher authority we could report this to! |

Any official comment on this? Still happening. |

I'm fairly sure I saw a "new server version" message a short while ago - might be significant if multiple projects are showing this symptom. <edit> Just seen another stuck download. Oddly, the files that I see "stuck" always seem to be really small... makes me wonder if some buffer is not being filled and an end point is either missing or not seen. Anyone seeing BIG files stuck? </edit> Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

I'm fairly sure I saw a "new server version" message a short while ago - might be significant if multiple projects are showing this symptom. So far, have not seen any BIG files stuck - only small files and ONLY "zip" extensions, The stuck file never does download for me. I can go about 3 or 4 days then get a new stuck file with similar name and have to kill the TASK to clear the stuck file. If I kill the stuck FILE the task never gets removed from task list on PC. |

I'm having the same issue. Tiny files are getting stuck and just wont finish downloading. It's certainly not all the workunits, just some of them. |

I'm about to report another SMALL download stall in another thread. I currently have stalled uploads for another project, but I have not been seeing stalled downloaded for other projects. If you have been, it may be worthwhile to report WHICH other projects, so communications between the projects can check what is common between the projects with small download stalls. |

Never seen any big files stuck. Only small, usually in 1-4 KB range. And only from Rosetta, all other attached projects running OK. P.S. Still happening - got more stuck downloads 2 days ago. Files were: 9v1nm_gb_c2489_9mer_gb_002321.zip (3.5 KB) twc_method_msd_cpp_10v4nme4_466_result_1037_msd.zip (3.2 KB) |

>>> If I kill the stuck FILE the task never gets removed from task list on PC. I have been aborting the transfer, thats all. The tasks list then shows the job that the file was associated with "download error". Interesting that you are seeing a difference there. I am running Windows 8.1 x64 with BOINC 7.14.2 (x64) - you? I'm getting them all the time. Aborting the download itself fixes it, but it's supremely annoying since when I don't it'll end up blocking new work from getting downloaded entirely. I've increased my cache to counteract this somewhat. |

>>> increased my cache That is a good idea, I might do the same, slightly, at least. I have quite a long run time set for work units, so a job tends to be around for a while. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

>>> increased my cache Yes, that is my defense too. I have 12-hour work units (sometimes 18-hour) anyway. I usually like short caches, but why not increase them for this one? It is easy to check once a day, and I can just weed out the bad ones. It was more an annoyance that they did not fix it themselves, but let's imagine that they have more important work to do at the moment. I will humor them for awhile, though probably not forever. |
