In my team we're taking part at Rosetta and other 2 projects. For joke we prepared our classifics 'bout RAC and credits and between us there's a funny rivalry. Well, the question is: why Rosetta project give less credits (for example SETI gives 1,5 times more credits) than other projects? I know, that's can be a stupid observation but for many people it's a "brake". And then, why not a Credits Common System at the same level of other projects? Thanks in advance. |

The credit system between boinc projects tries to be similar. But some CPU's just crunch at different pace doing different things. If a person uses an optimised seti@home application (like at lunatics.at then they will crunch faster compared to other seti people.) Since rosetta is based around actual work done in comparison to other people on the project the credit vary, Core2 processor for example get a lot more credit as they actually crunch faster in comparison, PPC- Mac's on the other hand don't crunch rosetta very well so get quite low credit compared to other projects. Athlon's tend to get somewhere in the middle +-10% of what the benchmark would say it should get. There is no real solution when different project do differnt things, the only way is to keep the overall project averages about the same level. Team mauisun.org |
