My Macs won't display a hostname in the "computers" list. I get all the other details such as OS version etc. I get hostnames displayed correctly on my linux machines and also my Windows machines. I've read that OSX does not implement a standard hostname system. Is there any way to get my hostnames to work for BOINC? (I've already given the OSX machines names in System Prefs -> Sharing -> Computer name.) Crunching Rosetta as a member of the Whirlpool BOINC Teams |

It should be using the name from the sharing preferences. However, you will have to restart your system and BOINC, then update the project from the project window in the BOINC manager before it will show in the Rosetta display. You may even hav to reset the project for it to work. But if you plane to reset, set the project to "No New Work" and allow it to complete the current Work units first. Then issue the reset command, turn on the work flow again and update. This sould give you the latest software, fresh Work Units and load the correct information. Thanks, I'll give that a go. These computers hardly ever get rebooted so I guess that could be why it hasn't come up! Crunching Rosetta as a member of the Whirlpool BOINC Teams |
