I have been running three projects for about 6 months...1 climate, two medical research. Two days ago they all stopped running and my BOINC manager shown that I am not attached to any projects. The BOINC screen saver just says.."Run BOINC manager". When I go into the BOINC manager, everything is blank...its like I never existed. I appear to have just been "cut off". I can see my current stats in the appropriate locations (Rosetta eg) but from an active participent perspective, I no longer exist. Whats up?? How do I re-initialize my situation. I do not want to re-create my account and loose my existing credits. What is the solution!!??...Anyone??

Try resetting the project in the projects tab if you haven't a;ready. If you have tried that and it does not work, then you could try detaching and reattaching.

A detach and reattach will not cause you to loose any credits or your account data, but it will reestablish your connection.

Be certain you have all the correct info for the project before you de-attach. You will need the correct project address, your e-mail address, and password. If you do not have the password be certain the have the project ID code. If you don't have all that you can get the server to send it to you via e-mail. When you reattach everything should get refreshed.

Regards
Phil

With a blank screen, Traver's not going to be able to "reset" on the projects tab, because they can't see anything there. So, you'll have to use the projects pulldown menu and "attach" again. And yes, your credits remain, you'll just have a new "host" created under your account.

I wanted to point out that the projects didn't all cut you off. Something happened with the BOINC data on your PC that caused it to forget what it was doing. Or, perhaps you've blocked BOINC from connecting to it's client threads.... this might happen if you upgraded to a new version of BOINC, and when prompted by a firewall such as ZoneAlarm to allow BOTH BOINC Manager and the client to use the network, you might have inadvertantly denied them that access?

On the title bar, does it say "BOINC Magager - (localhost)"?? And down in the lower right say "connected to localhost"?? If not, then BOINC's having trouble interfacing to the client threads. This is done via TCP/IP sockets and hence runs through your firewall... but it does NOT go to the internet for this portion of the activity.

I have TCP problems on my PC every once and a great while. A reboot always clears it up. Have you rebooted since you saw the blank BOINC screen?

Stop then restart Boinc, if that fails to get you connected, shut Boinc down and reboot your computer....
