I am using a 3800x with 16gb(3600mhz b-die) of memory and 16 threads running 24/7. I am using 50% of my available memory running Boinc. I also have an extra 16gb memory that's not installed because when using 4 sticks I have to go from 3600mhz to 3400mhz to stop memory errors and also I don't have any programs that need that much ram. But to run Boinc I can put the sticks back in if it will utilize the extra memory. Would Boinc use any of the additional memory?

It depends how may Tasks you run at the Same time, and you will need to set BOINC to allow it to use the extra RAM.
At present there are Tasks that can use as much as 2GB, although around 1.3GB to 1.5GB is more usual for the larger RAM requirement Tasks at present. For most Tasks the RAM required is between 200-800MB. There are plans to release Tasks that may require up to 4GB of RAM.
If you plan to use all of your cores & threads, and don't want to run in to any out-of-memory errors, then 32GB will be necessary.

And as for the effect of going from from 3600mhz to 3400mhz with a programme such as Rosetta that uses heaps of system memory? The the effect will be 0. Higher speeds generally mean looser timings, lower speeds tighter timings. And if you're really lucky with the RAM jackpot & can bump up the speed & keep the timings down, the effect is often only a 1-2% improvement in many cases (some games may give a bigger boost, but the extra cost usually well outweighs any increase in FPS).
For the odd programme where faster RAM does make a significant (ie more than 5-6%) difference then the looser timings generally don't matter, it's the bandwidth that matters.

Higher speed RAM does have an impact on iGPU performance, but there are very few real world applications where going more than 2 steps (in fact often even just 1) above the base speed have much of an impact on system performance. And in many of those cases, they can often get a bigger benefit from more RAM than faster of the same capacity.

Just to add to my previous post- i've recently had a couple of Tasks that used just over 3GB of RAM for at least 30min.

Thank you. I put the other 16gb ram and now stand at 28% memory usage. Bionc is running 16 task on the 3800x. I have it set at 100% memory usage. Anything else that I need to do?
Edit: In the log file it says that Bionc detected the 32 gb of ram.

The large RAM Tasks aren't that common, but if you do get a couple of them together with a few more normal but slightly larger than usual RAM requirement Tasks, 16GB of RAM even when using 12 threads just isn't enough. So with 32Gb you've not likely to have any memory issues, even with all 16 threads in use.

Just one more thing- some of your Tasks show a big difference between CPU time and Run time,
eg
Run time 10 hours 44 min 22 sec
CPU time 7 hours 53 min 50 sec
If you're making heavy use of this system on occasions, then it would explain the difference in times- on a lightly used system the difference is generally around 1 min for every hour of CPU time.
If you aren't making heavy use of it, then you have some other programme that is. And when it's doing it's thing, Rosetta can't process work (it runs at idle priority level).

The pc is a general use pc and not a dedicated one for Boinc(edit:work). Most of the time I am just using the browser, but have entertainment programs like Tidal streaming, Netflex, and games on it. I am in the middle of playing Doom Eternal right now when the wife's at work. So I think that's what your seeing, I suspend Bionc when playing Doom.
Other than that, Bionc runs 16 threads 24/7. The new AMD chips just cuts through everything like butter, my brain isn't fast enough to tell when Bionc is running in the background or not(games excluded)
Netflex, streaming music, youtube, etc. I just leave Bionc running.

Yep, that explains the large difference between CPU time & Runtime on some Tasks,
With that extra RAM, even running all cores & threads, you're not likely to have any issues with it running Rosetta.

On a DELL R910 server with xeon 7760 running 64 treads its using between 40 and 100gb of mem so if you have enough CPU it will be used
