The frontpage including the status information is now being cached and should be updated every 30 minutes.

The page may be cached on your browser. Press shift and click on reload or clear your cache.

Sorry to bother you, but why does my Rosetta home page still show user of the day as Morpheus, and has done so since Oct 28 (together with the server status on that day)?

Thanks. I am using MS IE which does not have a Reload button. The only way I could get an up to date view was delete all Temporary Internet Files in Tools > Options. This does not happen with any other website.
Until now, my results were stuck at the day I joined, but I can see some interesting graphs, and the front page news which would have obviated some of my posts.

hold down CTRL while pressing F5 forces IE to reload that page while ignoring the cache.

I assume that the problem is that rosetta is setting an invalid/wrong/not usable by IE last modified date for the front page. If you look in your cache you see that it claims the page is last modified 1.1.1970 1:00 which is obviously wrong. As far as I know IE uses some heuristics to determine when the page needs to be refreshed including the last modified date.
So it may solve the problem to send the correct date or at least don't send a date at all if it is unknown.

I just looked at it and am pretty sure that what I just wrote is the problem. It works like this:
The page tells the browser: Ask again if there is a new page in 30 minutes.
If the browser asks the webserver after 30 minutes: Is the page updated since the last time? (I'd assume using a HEAD request)
The webpage answers: No its not updated (date is still 1970)
So the browser will not retrieve an updated version of the page.

>>> I am using MS IE which does not have a Reload button.

On the menu bar you should have an icon with green arrows and a tooltip of "Refresh", this is the same as reload. You can also press F5.

If you click "Tools->Internet Options->Under "Temporary Internet Files" -> Settings" you can change the Radio Button to determine how and when IE updates your cached image, or indeed, turn cacheing off altogether.

Unless you are using an old version of IE, in which case, upgrade to a newer, or use FireFox or Opera instead if that is not an option.

As far as I can see the devs already fixed the wrong caching data, so you don't need to refresh anymore...

If you run into the problem again try pressing ctrl and F5 at the same time and this should refresh you screen even without a reload button.

Are you ABSOLUTELY certain about this? All the Windows systems I use have a reload button on the IE toolbar, the default location is immediately to the right of the forward button.

If it's missin, right click on the toolbar and select "customize..." from the popup menu. That sould let you add the missing reload button back in.
