Message 113515 - Posted: 3 Apr 2026, 0:39:28 UTC - in response to Message 113514.

I took a very rare visit to the WCG forums to see what was being said and the credit increase was almost completely ignored
While they acknowledged a swathe of old tasks were being validated rapidly, the experienced hands weren't buying the credits at all - as if they didn't believe them for a second

It struck me there's always been this weird thing where WCG's internal credits on their website are 7 times what gets passed to Boinc (and Boincstats)
Without knowing a single thing, I'm wondering whether something's going wrong, so the divide-by-seven thing has stopped happening?
I'm appreciating the credits, but that would explain a lot and I'd believe 3m credits a lot more than the 21m I'm disconcertingly being awarded
Obviously, I'm just guessing based on nothing. I have no idea

All recent credits have been withdrawn and, having re-read their forum thread, I think they actually had it sussed quite early on, but I couldn't follow the discussion well enough first time around.
Let's hope their second attempt goes better (and mine tbf)
My Boinc WCG credits are back down from 54.5m to where they started before the weekend - 35,655,547

On a linux box ( - mine is Linux Mint 22.3), an easy way to poll for new rosetta tasks is using
a crontab entry - I use this
crontab -e
then add -

# Update BOINC's Rosetta Project every 2 Minutes to catch stray WUs
*/2 * * * * /usr/bin/boinccmd --project https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ update

I see you're trying also trying the Denis project - I don't think I've seen any activity since
June 2025 on this one. Einstein always seems to have Work Units available though, as
does WCG when it's up.
I try to crunch on Cancer oriented research, as my wife, and mom both died of cancer,
and I'm also struggling with leukemia. I'm glad research like WCG/Folding@Home are still
going strong. FAH even seems to be looking at the KRAS protein involved in a lot of cancers.
I hope us crunchers can really help those researchers!
Anyway try a simple cron job for updating - no need for scripts on linux!
