I have a WU stuck at 83.33% for almost 24 hours. The CPU Time and Time to Completion clocks are advancing. What is the problem?

Can you provide some information about your computer. Speed, processor, etc. 24 hours is a long time, but we are seeing some larger proteins. Is it dedicated to Rosetta, or sharing time with other projects?

The calculations become more complex at 83.33%, and do take longer.

If you are sharing between projects, you need to either "keep in memory" or increase the time between project switches. This ensures that each step can complete. If the time is too short and it can't reach the next step which is 91.66%, then it will keep restarting at 83.33% when it switches back from another project. On my iBook 600 (G3) I keeping switching interval set to 180 minutes. My longest work unit was 16 hours, and that was unusual.

Oh, and once in a while a work unit will get "stuck". A simple quit and restart will usually fix that.

Shaktai is correct about all of the above. I had a WU that came to my Laptop (1GHz G4 PowerBook) and after 24 hours seemingly stuck on 83.33% it finally went to 91.3%. I suspended the other applications and let it run and finally after another 8 hours of steady processing it spit the WU out completed.

In the crunchers corner on this site there is some discussion about these WUs. There are a few that are REALLY large computationally. IF you just wait it out it will eventually finish. If you do Quit the process, you should only do so one time as you are into the part of the process where the system does not store intermediate results very often. If you keep quitting out it will have to repeat everything it has done after reaching the last save point.

Check the name of your WU. If your WU has "_no_cst_" in the name it is one of the big fellers for sure. This means no constraints on the calculations. On a 1GHz G4 it will take 79,000 + CPU seconds to finish. Almost twice the normal time.

Thanks to all. I am on a Mac dual 533 with 1.5 Gb RAM. I have reset my preferences to switch at 240 minutes. I now have 3 WU stuck at 83.33%. I also suspended SETI and Predictor for a while to let Rosetta run on its own.
