Eric, you have the dreadded "107 error". If you look at one of your WUs, for example this one you will see this portion of the description: <core_client_version>5.4.9</core_client_version> <message> - exit code -1073741811 (0xc000000d) </message> This has been occuring more often now as they have temporarily disabled some of the normal error handling code in Rosetta due to some memory problems it was causing. You're still racking up credits though. And the WUs your are sending back have successfully crunched through several models, so your results are important. There is a thread about WU errors, if you have a look and search for "107" you will see the conversations on the topic. Suggested action: If you feel up to it, join Ralph which is the test project for Rosetta. Not that there is really anything to be "up to", but I mean if you are the type that wants to help and is willing to provide feedback, this is the place to do so. Be aware there isn't consistently WUs available on Ralph, so even if you sign up, you may not get any work this go around. But your history of failure will be useful knowledge on the boards there. Otherwise, you are crunching fine, and even your errors are producing meaningful science and credits, so let it run and rest assured that the problem is being worked on and will soon be resolved. Welcome to Rosetta! [edit] P.S. You aren't actually failing "every time". Looks like you're running about 50/50 so far. Also, your average download rate isn't measured yet, but your upload rate looks like you may be on a dial up connection?? You may want to increase the WU runtime in your Rosetta preferences so that you can download less WUs and just crunch on them longer. Beware you have to update to the project after the change for it to be reflected on your PC, and it WILL effect the WUs already in your cache, so don't jump to extremes with the values :) Also, I like to get everyone started out with an easy reference to all the project info. I am in fact on a cable connection. I don't have any idea why it would be so slow. I just ran a speed test off of one of the many online providers. My download speed came in at 4941 kbps whereas my upload speed was only 357 kbps. This seems faster than dial-up, but I didn't realize the speeds were so far apart. Is that normal? |

If you think about it, the amount of data you send out (i.e. upload) when you surf the web is pretty small, just the clicks and perhaps fill out a form or send an EMail... so your ISP takes the "send" bandwidth and sales that to business that want to run servers. They do a LOT of "send" (i.e. "upload") and very little receive (just the URL users want to hit). BOINC's stats were probably just off, because you don't have a lot of history for it go gauge by. It still keeps your work list shorter and reduces the load on the Rosetta servers if you bump your time per WU to 8 hrs or so. I've been crunching 24hr WUs for some time now my self. There are some WUs right now on Ralph, if you were interested in helping there. I'm not sure, but since the version hasn't changed there, I don't think they yet have specific changes for the 107 error being tested.
