Since i have this problem only on PC's which run Rosetta but with a Keaybord/Mouse switch with limited bandwidth
i guess the option to switch off graphics completely would solve the issue of loss of keyboard and mouse. This way i have to reboot all connected machines , if one was crunching rosetta while switching through the machines.
I set Rosetta on hold on all connected Clients and the problem was gone.
Anybody with the same experience ?

I use a switch like that, where I use a single keyboard and display to run two machines, all the time. I'm not clear what problem you are having. Are you saying that when you have the Rosetta graphic displayed and then switch to your other PC, that you have to reboot?

Just the same but not depending on actually showing the graphics.
I am not sure if the graphics must be the reason , this is only my guess, because on other ( newer ) switches all is working perfect ut they have a lot higher bandwidth. Prob occurs not only when i show graphics . Even when a rosetta job is being worked on while i switch through the connected PC's.
The PC's don't stop crunchin' but i can't access them anymore because they lost all but the monitor. So i even can't switch to another machine, because of "no keyboard" as well as opening closing any things which aren't already open ...
though i can follow the progress on the current job if Boincmanager was open. When When i then control my project statistics i can still see that the other machines are still working as well.
But if i want to do/change something on the other machines i have to reboot all connected PC to regain control of keyboard and mouse.

It sounds like you do basically nothing but Rosetta on the other machines. And so you won't know the answer to this question... but what if Rosetta were NOT running? I mean if you were typing a word processing document, and hit the key sequence to switch to another PC, and then come back... is your keyboard still locked up?

...I'm thinking that the answer is yes. That regardless of what is running on the PC, when you switch away from it, it loses the keyboard and mouse.

With some keyboards (I think it's the non-USB ones) once it is detached, it can't be used again... unless I suppose if the switch is sending a signal to the PC pretending the keyboard is still there.

In short, I suspect your switch isn't living up to your expectations and needs to be replaced. And that it has nothing to do with Rosetta running.

For future readers, I believe the mention of bandwidth is a reference to sending all the graphics to the display device (through the KVM). Not to internet traffic.
