i did everything from downloading the boinc software to creating account but i still do not understand how on what basis i receive the credit?i have not received any screensver as other boinc projects have.mail me soon.

MY REPLY. First of all Welcome aboard. Additionally If you haven't gotten the latest BOINC Version 5.5.6. May I suggest you go to the BOINC site, and download it. It is now the most stable version available. As to your question about your credits. Well that's relatively simple. After you complete a project work file as you were told if you read the information on the sign up page. Then you will get a credit for your completed work. Sorry I can't explain this better. I have been a volunteer for a few years now, but still unfortunately lack a complete understanding of the projects. With the change to the BOINC interface GUI (Graphic User Interface), from the original SETI@HOME. I spent most of my time trying to understand what the BOINC was doing, and having many problems with the GUI.s. Now we have a functional, and relatively stable GUI. biplab, It looks like you joined the project back in October, but haven't received any credit yet. You present have a single work unit, which you downloaded last week... have you completed that work unit? And reported it back to Rosetta?

You can open the BOINC Manager, and look at the "tasks" tab (it was called "work" in the prior version of BOINC). This will show if it is completed or not.

The default time preference for a Rosetta work unit is 3hrs. This means it should take somewhere between 2-4hrs of CPU time to process.

Perhaps you've suspended BOINC? Go to the Windows task manager, and click on the CPU column heading, twice... this sorts the task using most CPU to the top... in general, that should show an "image name" with the word Rosetta in it. If not, what task is there in the top spot? How many hours per day is your machine powered on? Do you have BOINC set up to run as a service? If not, perhaps you've not started it?

If you can give some more information about what you are expecting and what you are seeing, I'm sure we can help.
