I just found out today that my Windows XP Home SP2 won't create restore points automatically with Rosetta running like it used to. I can set up a task schedule. But I would like to know: Are there any other "surprises" that Rosetta could cause that I (and perhaps other users) might be interested in knowing about? Thank you. EDIT: It turns out that I was mistaken. The task scheduler will not actually create a restore point, it will only bring up the system restore window. I'm honestly not sure that I like this. Any suggestions?

If you don't get a response here, post your question in the Number Crunching forum. It's likely to attract the attention of more technical folks. How often do you create restore points? Weekly/Daily, etc?

Since the system restore function runs at a low priority BOINC can make it difficult for it to get enough CPU time to run quickly. The later versions of BOINC do better than ealier versions.

I do have daily restore points on this machine going back about 2 weeks (as expected). The host is normally on 24/7 and is normally restarted at least once per day.

Thank you for the replies. I've only been doing this for about a week; I double-checked, and do have the latest version. I wonder if your restore points are being created when you restart. Until I became involved with this project, I used to turn my PC off while at work or when out, leaving it in stand-by at night so it could recieve updates and run security scans. I decided to try using the options to stop work for one hour a day. It's only been one day so far, but a restore point was created during that hour. I may have found the "work-around". Also, I almost forgot to answer the question: I don't create restore points at all. That's kind of my point. The PC is supposed to do it automatically. (At least one a day are supposed to be created.)
