So I downloaded BOINC, inserted the rosetta URL into the projects, etc. It downloaded all the rosetta files, except it can't seem to download "rosetta_5.95_windows_intelx86.exe". It keeps attempting, but keeps telling me that "Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site," "Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down," and then "Temporarily failed download"... Then it proceeds to "back off" the download only to go through this cycle again. The server status page says everything is running. I've tried detaching from the project and reattaching, only to find myself stuck on the same file. I'm running ZoneAlarm, but turning it off doesn't solve the issue. So what's going on here? |

Hi Amara, welcome to Rosetta, and hopefully also to crunching soon. Just enter the following line in your browser: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/download/rosetta_5.25_windows_intelx86.exe and it should begin the download. As the download destination you can either select the folder projectsboinc.bakerlab.org_rosetta in your BOINC folder or save the application to another place and copy it into the above folder from there. That should do it. Regards, Christoph "I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant." R.M. Nixon |

Just to add this has been seen before and without more details (proxies, isp, etc..) it is difficult to tell. Turning of ZoneAlarm still leaves zone alarm running, you have pretty much shut it down and completely stop it. I don't think there was any solution other than that given about. Out of interest would you mind testing a developer version (before you do the above download) http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php?min_version=5.0&dev=1 i it is the 5.6.x one. Just install it over the top (no need to even stop boinc it does it all itself. Team mauisun.org |

Hi Fluffychicken, I've been having a problem downloading Rosetta WU's over my satellite modem. This may indeed be a BOINC manager problem for me, but I can download any .gz file just fine but the small .txt files that sometimes come with the work will refuse to download. The only way I can finish is to switch my proxy settings to have the box access BOINC via a dial-up modem. I'm running W2K, Boinc 5.4.11 and the latest Rosetta available. I'm getting ready to try some of the newer beta Boinc clients to see what happens next. /mike |

I don't know much about satellite setups, I know they are normally more complicated than most. I would suggest posting in the Number crunching section of the main message board. http://www.boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_index.php Team mauisun.org |
