Is there a rosetta@home store, or a place where we can support rosetta@home buying t-shirts or posters. I would really like to spread the word of distributed computing for rosetta@home. let me know, thanks! Nate B |

I don't think we currently have this set up, but I'll bring this up at our group meeting in ~45min. |

This sort of thing has been brought up before.... the last time of which I am aware was here: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=2350#28622 and in the associated discussion... It all depends (it seems to me) upon a) the amount of interest from the R@H user-base, and b) how the proceeds could/would/should be treated by the UW and/or HHMI.... -KEL |

This sort of thing has been brought up before.... the last time of which I am aware was here: I think 'interest' is not so important since you can goto CafeExpress and a decent EU and other placed equivelent just upload you logo and start selling mug, t-shirt, mouse mats etc from there. I doesn't matter if anyone buys or not since it cost you nothing. Team mauisun.org |

That should be Cafepress www.cafepress.com and for a UK/EU one http://www.spreadshirt.net/ Team mauisun.org |

That should be Cafepress www.cafepress.com Spreadshirt also has a US operation at spreadshirt.com They advise registering separately each side of the pond so that customers get to buy in their own currency (and read English in our favo(u)red spelling) I've no idea how spreadshirt and cafepress compare for commission rates etc, but it might be easier on everyone to have both shops based on the same user interface. ... It all depends (it seems to me) upon ... If not a lot of money comes in, then who cares how the Uni sees it? And if loadsamoney comes in, then whatever the split is, it will be more than you and UW have got at present. Please don't let the internal legal issues stop it happening. Re HHMI, Even if you lost an equal amount in grant money for every dollar profit, in my opinion it would be worh it for the extra publicity. You have already got posters out here, T-shirts and mugs offer additional talking points that will usually be close to someone who is keen on the project. I do see the point though: you might be knocked back on your next six digit grant for receiving a three figure royalty. But surely you can get a reasonably quick opinion from them about how current and future grant apps would be affected? R~~ |

... It all depends (it seems to me) upon ... I think most set the commision rate up to the person creating the store. It's the base rate and sipping that need looking at. I guess R@H could set it as low as possible. Team mauisun.org |

Here's the consensus that I have from talking to people: - We need to talk with people from both UW and HHMI about how to do this within the confines of our grant agreements. - We'd definitely like to have some sort of t-shirt (or possibly a dressier polo shirt) to wear at the CASP conference that members of the lab will be attending in late November. I'll try to keep this in the lab group consciousness, as I know many people would get a kick out of Rosetta@Home schwag (myself included). |

Here's the consensus that I have from talking to people: I would think that if you set it up with no commision there should be nothing wrong. If with commision and put it to good causes (of course may conflict with grant). Maybe need to set it up outside of official rosetta. Either way I see nothing wrong with you and people from the lab just ordering one for themselves. No need for a shop at all then. Team mauisun.org |
