I'm not having any problems with R@H, but I was wondering what others are doing with their cache since it is tangential to the post below. I know all 3 of my boxes are set at 1 days worth in the cache. I've found it to be quite helpful; it's enough to keep me running R@H even if there is a short break. What do some of you others have your cache set at? (Click for detailed stats) |

I'm running Rosetta 5.43 on a 1.83 GHz Core Duo MacBook. I noticed that one of the WUs I reported five minutes ago is still listed as Server State "In Progress", Client State "New" (no credit, etc.) whereas the other two WUs I reported at the same time are both marked "Over" and "Done", respectively. Did the missing WU get lost on its way to the server? I noticed nothing out of the ordinary on my end--no error messages, upload was normal, etc.--and no longer see that unit listed in Tasks on the computer. Apparently, I did 3 hours of crunching for nothing. Here's the details on the unit: s027__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom001__1463_15619_1 Result ID: 55302312 Work Unit ID: 47709401 |

Look in the messages tab and copy and post all the info given just before to just after the uploading of the tasks Here's the info. After reading the entire message tab myself, I think I see the problem: I never received the file for that WU to begin with. I have messages about every other WU I crunched yesterday, but s027__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom001__1463_15619_1 never appears in the messages. I wonder why Rosetta lists it under my computer. Oh, well--the server will error it out after I don't report it by the deadline--after all, you can't report what you never received in the first place. Here's the messages for Rosetta from my machine: Wed Jan 3 17:06:28 2007|rosetta@home|Resuming task s023__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom016__1456_11424_2 using rosetta version 543 Wed Jan 3 17:06:28 2007|rosetta@home|Resuming task s023__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom025__1456_44146_0 using rosetta version 543 Wed Jan 3 17:06:28 2007||Suspending network activity - user request Wed Jan 3 18:43:17 2007||Rescheduling CPU: application exited Wed Jan 3 18:43:17 2007|rosetta@home|Computation for task s023__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom016__1456_11424_2 finished Wed Jan 3 18:43:17 2007|rosetta@home|Starting task s028__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom001__1461_33927_1 using rosetta version 543 Wed Jan 3 19:15:42 2007||Resuming network activity Wed Jan 3 19:15:43 2007|rosetta@home|Started upload of file s023__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom016__1456_11424_2_0 Wed Jan 3 19:18:34 2007|rosetta@home|Finished upload of file s023__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom016__1456_11424_2_0 Wed Jan 3 19:18:34 2007|rosetta@home|Throughput 291 bytes/sec Wed Jan 3 19:18:43 2007|rosetta@home|Sending scheduler request to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi Wed Jan 3 19:18:43 2007|rosetta@home|Reason: Requested by user Wed Jan 3 19:18:43 2007|rosetta@home|Reporting 1 tasks Wed Jan 3 19:18:53 2007|rosetta@home|Scheduler request succeeded Wed Jan 3 19:25:08 2007||Suspending network activity - user request Wed Jan 3 19:43:59 2007||Rescheduling CPU: application exited Wed Jan 3 19:43:59 2007|rosetta@home|Computation for task s023__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom025__1456_44146_0 finished Wed Jan 3 19:43:59 2007|rosetta@home|Starting task s026__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom011__1462_15856_1 using rosetta version 543 Wed Jan 3 21:51:19 2007||Rescheduling CPU: application exited Wed Jan 3 21:51:19 2007|rosetta@home|Computation for task s028__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom001__1461_33927_1 finished Wed Jan 3 22:40:05 2007||Rescheduling CPU: application exited Wed Jan 3 22:40:05 2007|rosetta@home|Computation for task s026__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom011__1462_15856_1 finished Wed Jan 3 23:09:33 2007||Resuming network activity Wed Jan 3 23:09:34 2007|rosetta@home|Started upload of file s023__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom025__1456_44146_0_0 Wed Jan 3 23:09:34 2007|rosetta@home|Started upload of file s028__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom001__1461_33927_1_0 Wed Jan 3 23:11:39 2007|rosetta@home|Finished upload of file s023__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom025__1456_44146_0_0 Wed Jan 3 23:11:39 2007|rosetta@home|Throughput 315 bytes/sec Wed Jan 3 23:11:39 2007|rosetta@home|Started upload of file s026__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom011__1462_15856_1_0 Wed Jan 3 23:12:02 2007|rosetta@home|Finished upload of file s028__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom001__1461_33927_1_0 Wed Jan 3 23:12:02 2007|rosetta@home|Throughput 348 bytes/sec Wed Jan 3 23:12:16 2007|rosetta@home|Finished upload of file s026__BOINC_ABRELAX_NEWRELAXFLAGS_hom011__1462_15856_1_0 Wed Jan 3 23:12:16 2007|rosetta@home|Throughput 1812 bytes/sec Wed Jan 3 23:13:29 2007|rosetta@home|Sending scheduler request to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi Wed Jan 3 23:13:29 2007|rosetta@home|Reason: Requested by user Wed Jan 3 23:13:29 2007|rosetta@home|Reporting 3 tasks Wed Jan 3 23:14:49 2007|rosetta@home|Scheduler request succeeded Wed Jan 3 23:18:27 2007||Suspending network activity - user request |

This seems to occur on rare occaision. People have been referring to them as "ghost WUs". You will find a few existing thread on the topic of you search for the word ghost. It seems it may be a problem in the BOINC software that runs on the Rosetta servers. But it is not a serious problem, the task will miss it's deadline and it's no big deal. There isn't anything you can do on your end. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |
