Hi I have computer with 2 processors Xenon E5345 (64 bit, 4 threades). OS (MS Windows Serwer 2003 R2 Standard x64) in computer shows 8 threades/processors. I set in "General preferences": "On multiprocessors, use at most 4 processors", but only 2 are used (25 %). Why ? regards Greg |

Perhaps the computer thinks it is at a different venue? (School, Work, Home...) Check the first dozen messages when BOINC starts and see what venue it is using. You can either change the host on the project website to live at a different venue, or you can change the preferences for that venue in your General Preferences. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Yes, that is sort of a local override of the preferences you configure with the project's website. If you stick with the project's settings, and avoid using that local override, it is easier to add computers later that will run the same setup as your existing machines.
