Greetings good people.

I would like to know if there is any way to permanantly remove the icon from the task bar (but still contine to run the program on startup)?

There are some PCs that have users who I can't trust not to fiddle with the software. It is like leaving candy on a table when there are kids around... someone eventually will touch it.

Thank you...

Install as a service and clear the selection boxes for make screensaver and run at startup.

The service will run even if no one is logged in and you only need the manager when you want to fiddle with it.

acha-cha I get it, Thanks.

Just wondering, mind you. If I were to reinstall the software would I be messing with any existing projects?

I'm assuming you're talking about Windows OS.

Instead of reinstalling, you could do this:

The icon in the task bar, is the boincmgr.exe. Instead of running boincmgr.exe to start the boinc client, use boinc.exe.

Specifically, run the command 'boinc.exe -redirectio' in a cmd window (the redirectio flag uses log files for stdout, and stderr, and then you can close the cmd windows that pops up)

This will start the boinc client without the boincmgr. Then you can boincmgr or boincview to monitor your boinc client.

If I get it correct, I can replace under Start up - Boinc manager, "boincmgr.exe" with "boinc.exe".
Already have it running and don't know what will happen if I uninstall and reinstall boinc.
