Great to see the almost 34% increase in computing power for the project! I hope many of the new users will stick around even after CASP9 is over, as Rosetta@home is truly a great project with huge potential to help humanity.

Yes, the mention of recent news on boincstats front page, the inclusion of rosetta in Seti.DE's pentathlon and the boost to recruitment has probably made no difference at all... (sigh)

Maybe it has, I'd be glad. I switched from 50/50 to 95/5 Rosetta/Non-Rosetta-projects. I'm just sceptical how sustainable the increase will be.

edit: I guess once the problems at Seti are over the TFLOPs will drop to "normal" levels.

I upped my resource share to 955 as well, but only from 9010. I won't be switching back. Hopefully others will maintain this kind of change too, in which case some of the recent gain will be retained.

I've only just noticed the Seti issues (I try to ignore pointless projects like that altogether). The decision to post a front-page message here, which gets copied to boincstats front-page in the midst of the Seti problem reports, is very well-timed. Hopefully some of those people will switch and stay too.

It would be a good idea to try and maintain at least one news report on their front page at all times.

recent flops peak was due undoubtly to big teams massive involvement in SG Pentathlon challenge

Is this "sad but true"? No. Pentathlon challenge was maybe the best ever team challenge. Chapeaux to SETI.Germany for it!

Oh, CASP badges, I like that idea. I've been crunching though a couple of CASPs now and that would be kind of a cool things to be able to display. Something like, a distinct badge for each CASP participation. Then, maybe those badges are color coded based on crunching time. Similar to what WCG does.

Yeah, I think that would be cool.

I think a reference to the information in Dr Baker's latest journal entry is worth going on the front page.

When it gets propogated to boincstats front page it may relieve the tedium for them hearing about the travails of other projects' power supplies and compete with the progress reports from WCG etc.

Practical progress is always news worth hearing. No news can imply there's no development at all, which is far from the case recently.

I do agree with dcdc. I would also consider posting a new news item, to attract more attention from the visitors on this website, as well as readers of BoincStats and other BOINC news broadcasters.

I completely agree, the 21 Jun 2010 post should also be added to the News section of the home page. This is a particularly exciting post and deserves the benefits of the RSS feed.

Now the publications page includes all publications of the laboratory and it is difficult to understand in which the distributed computing project was really involved and in what extent.
It would be more useful to have a dedicated page of Rosetta@Home publications, with only publications in which there was a significant contribution by volunteers.

Hi Manuel,

Almost all the work in my group that is described in the publications is impacted quite directly by Rosetta@home volunteers. For example, the energy function used in all of our work is continually being improved through feedback from rosetta@home, and these improvements are key for the work described in almost all of the publications.
