It looks like this error happens when the BOINC manager tries to suspend one calculation to switch to another, at least I got it every hour at the time it was about to switch between Rosetta and Einstein until I stopped it. Does that mean I have to leave the preempted project in memory to prevent the error? If that's the case, BOINC needs to be fixed so this is not necessary "keep the applications in memory when switching" I have a lot of main RAM 1 Gig to be exact, but even though I have so much. My processor is only 600Mhz Pentium 3, and would slow my system down because of the unnecessary need to use system SWAP file memory. Thank You. |

It looks like this error happens when the BOINC manager tries to suspend one calculation to switch to another, at least I got it every hour at the time it was about to switch between Rosetta and Einstein until I stopped it. When the application swaps it will be moved from RAM memory to Virtual memory on disk. This will not slow your computer in any significant way. The project is currently working on a new version that will not require this setting. Moderator9 ROSETTA@home FAQ Moderator Contact |

It looks like this error happens when the BOINC manager tries to suspend one calculation to switch to another, at least I got it every hour at the time it was about to switch between Rosetta and Einstein until I stopped it. Do I understand that the files that otherwise would be left in memory will be sent to an agreed to area on the hard disk drive till needed, and not to my systems swap file. I don't want anything to remain in the systems swap file unless it is active while there, as I do a bit of scanning, and my computer being a Pentium 3 @ 600Mhz needs all available RAM for jobs in progress. You need I think, to just fix the program so that the swaps don't affect the functioning of the program except to be other than set by the user. If the swapping causes the problem you need to fix the program so the swapping doesn't degrade the users computer at all (remember my computer is not a Pentium 4. It is a Pentium 3, and your processor is as to the best of my knowledge rated as a Pentium 4 class processor (The Athalon is actually faster than a Pentium 4), (Is this correct as to your particular processor?), and you still have to fix the graphics glitch. THank You For Your Time. |

i also keep having this error, most displeasing that with the kind of minds working on these projects, that they cannot run smoothly Thinking of leaving rosetta, in fact boinc totally, for there is no other worthy project in my opinion Which is rather sad after years of use 1 x Intel Q6600 SLACR .....at the moment |

Same problem here, I think I stop with Rossetta. |
