Ok, so, I managed to download everything and i got 2 works from Rosetta. they finished, first the first one (hehehe)and i got that error. I said to myself, this is because I did something wrong, maybe next time it doesn't happen. but it just happened again with another work, it got to the 100%, and in the status says COMPUTATION ERROR, doesn't send, not anything, what do I have to do? Is a problem of mine or a problem of a remote computer?

I have also experienced this problem *several times now*, particularly when processing is stopped when I want to use the computer. As you can see, some results go through while others get aborted. This does NOT happen with Seti@home, *only* with Rosetta. Very frustrating. Even though the CPU time devoted to Rosetta is "idle" time, I hate to see it go to waste when it could be used by some other project.

Please see the messages received below. Hopefuly you will be able to do something about this. Otherwise, please let me know and I will switch to another project

I'm having the same problem (exit code -1073741819), I'm wondering if it has to do with the fact that it is the computer that I work on the most?

I just lost 15 jobs on 1 of my machines to "computation errors" in the work section and 2 jobs that finshed(17 jobs total).I dont know what this means or how to fix it as i have had this happen to me on my other computers from time to time but would only be 1 job here or there.

Any and all help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

I am also having a problem in the same, with just a bit of difference. I download more work to either project while my computer is doing Round Robins because I don't have the resources to do more than one project at a time. The Round Robin switches between each project after one hour of work, an when downloading new work if I have another project I may get an Communication error:

Ammendment to message: BOINC needs to be fixed so It can automatically notice that Modem, or DSL, or Cable communications have been suspended by the user, so it will not report an error where there is none. If I turn off my communication with the Internet, as I do for added security reasons, and a project is finished while I'm offline the work may be reported as errant. Where It BOINC should recognize the communication suspention automaticaly, and wait for comunication to resume. Them proceed with transfers, or other functions requiring Internet connection. I turn my Internet connection off while I am away from the computer to add to security, and the BOINC doesn't see that, and adjust accordingly. Thank You in Advance for Your Time, and Assistance.

Hi. I'm back again. Here are the latest messages I received from the BOINC interface while running SETI & Rosetta in the Round Robin, or Flip-Flop mode.
I just lost another Rosetta work file VIA BOINC errors. Here are the messages:

12/23/2005 20:47:46:PM|rosetta@home|Computation for result DEFAULT_1dcj_219_3079_0 finished

I'd like to see BOINC run with the smothness that was had with the original SETI@home Classic. Thank You in Advance for Your Time, and Assistance in fixing this problem.

No. I don't think so. Too many people are having the same problem. The people at BOINC just found another problem. Hopefully they'l fix it before people start to leave. They almost have it. I hope they get it soon. I think they are getting closer to the completion. They have clamped each problem they have come to see. Almost as fast as they found about them. Good Luck.

Same here, started Rosetta at home on 20/12/05 as an alternative to seti at home when there are problems with seti, now all of my first 10 results are computational errors. What is the go here? After 5 days of work and zero results still?

Using Windows XP SP2, P4 3.2.

This explains the problem, but not how to resolve it. Can someone post a resolution to this problem?

All users with problems, please report this so we are heard by the right people.

I have not seen a work unit that did NOT fail.

Here is the last message:
12/26/2005 5:18:38 PM|rosetta@home|Unrecoverable error for result NO_BARCODE_FRAGS_1dcj_227_818_0 ( - exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005))

Where do I find what exit code 1073741819 means?

I've read the step by step by step guide and I don't see it mentioned.

It looks like this error happens when the BOINC manager tries to suspend one calculation to switch to another, at least I got it every hour at the time it was about to switch between rosetta and einstein until I stopped it.
After modifying the preferences to keep the applications in memory when switching I haven't had the error.
I'll see what happens when it completes work on a WU.

PLEASE READ THE TOP OF THE Q&A SECTION - WHERE IT SAYS "PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING".

All of these questions and problems have already been addressed, in detail, in the CORRECT location, which is the "Number Crunching" forum. These "Q&A" areas should not be used and will soon be deleted.

Summary of answers: You MUST have "leave applications in memory when preempted" set to "YES" in the preferences. And, there was a batch of "bad WUs" released just before the holidays; project staff is aware of these, the "long" ones WILL get credit after they return next week. There is nothing you need to do, all the "bad" stuff has now been cancelled.

You are quite right but due to the name "Questions and problems" this is where people look for answers. If they don't find them, they discuss the problem until an answer is found (or given).
If you don't want people to ask questions here, rename the forums.

Incudentally, until it's fixed this item is so fundamental that it really belongs on the front page.

Hi. You who wrote the folowing quote (copied at end of this reply). I think your move as described in the copy of your quote will defeat the purpose of the "Q&A" areas if they are removed. Someties people will post to the wrong area ocassionaly. If your post is in the wrong area. Would you like some to help you, or tell you they don't care because you put the post in the wrong place. There are many problems with the present BOINC. I expect the programmers are trying to fix the program bugs. Just be patient. Let them know what your problem is in the proper area if you know where it is. Then just wait a bit longer, and see. You should be satisfied in the end. Thank You. Folowing is the copied portion of the post reffered to in my reply as above:

"All of these questions and problems have already been addressed, in detail, in the CORRECT location, which is the "Number Crunching" forum. These "Q&A" areas should not be used and will soon be deleted."
