is it possible to start computing only when the BOINC screensaver is active? I'd like to dedicate all my spare CPU time, but not when i'm just working by the computer. I've chosen "Run based on preferences" option, but it runs all the time :(

There's a section in the preferences you set here that says "do work only when idle." That should be set to yes to get where ou want to be. If your screensaver is on a five minute wait, set the timer at that screen to four minutes, and Boinc will kick in a minute ahead of the screensaver.

If it's set like this and still working when you're at the computer, check the boinc homepage for help. With the settings I've described, it should not be doing what you're saying.

With this project make sure you also select 'leave applications in memory' if you are only crunching when idle. Checkpoints are too far apart here to remove the app.
