I ressurected an older Windows 2000 machine running Norton 2000 Internet Security which used to run BONIC. I downloaded the latest version of BOINC and got the the first work file, processed it, and it's ready to report. However, I repeatedly receive a message "Server Error: Can't attach Shared Memory" when it attempts to send results. The only help I can find on this message has to do with LINUX, which I don't understand. My other machine (Windows Vista), on the same home network, works happily along every day. Any thoughts? |

Fixed OK, I've fixed my own problem. In summary, I had a pretty old version of BOINC on my Windows machine. When I removed and reinstalled the latest version, the removal process did NOT remove all vestiges of configuration information. Specifically, the URL for the scheduler has been changed, but not updated on my computer. I figured this out by reading message 57462. I'm on Rosetta. The message suggested changing the scheduler URL to srv4.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi I did this according to the instructions and it worked. Afterwards, don't forget to click on your projects tab in the Manager, select the project and click update. Bill Tarkulich |

The servers are having problems right now, so too soon to think there is any problem on your end. Generally the shared memory message is an indication of server issues. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |
