Icons on my desktop are just away after that (only pictures, not the text of them), in google the links are not visible anymore. It does not help to restart explorer, i have to restart windows (XP). If you think about it, no application should be able to interfere with the desktop. So I suspect there may be a problem either with Windows, or with the drivers for your graphics card.
