Since the recent crash of Rosetta's database a few days ago, I have been unable to report a completed block of data, which will expire in a few hours. No amount of leaning on the BOINC Update button helps, and that block just sits there grinning 100% completed and not going anywhere. Should I just abort it and try to start again? I am just a poor Romance editor trying to do my bit for science, I'm not much in the way of making computers sit up and beg, or roll over and play dead, and I need my instructions in single syllable words for computer thingys. Looks like you have now aborted it... but not received any new work. What are the messages in the BOINC Manager telling you (that would be going to the "advanced" view, then clicking the "messages" tab and scrolling to the bottom). BOINC may have decided it is time to get work from other projects. Does your machine already have work from other projects that is running? Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

BOINC may have decided it is time to get work from other projects. Does your machine already have work from other projects that is running? The three other BOINC processes I am running (SETI, World Community Grid, Climate Prediction) have all and continue to work fine. I aborted it after the time expired. Here is a recent example from the log (I won't post the whole thing): 30/12/2010 13:06:31 climateprediction.net Sending scheduler request: To send trickle-up message. 30/12/2010 13:06:31 climateprediction.net Not reporting or requesting tasks 30/12/2010 13:06:36 climateprediction.net Scheduler request completed 30/12/2010 13:06:41 rosetta@home update requested by user 30/12/2010 13:06:42 rosetta@home Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. 30/12/2010 13:06:42 rosetta@home Not reporting or requesting tasks 30/12/2010 13:06:47 rosetta@home Scheduler request completed |

I cannot offer any ideas on why your last task didn't report itself properly, but for the time being, your machine has decided it already has plenty of work on-board with your other projects. That is why it is saying "Not reporting or requesting tasks". Once your machine completes the work it has, it will then get more work for whichever project is behind on the resource shares you have setup. I understand that SETI has been down for an extended period of time, so your machine was unable to do any work for SETI and will likely now work to make up that "debt" to SETI to match your defined resource shares. Well, I solved the problem. I detached from the project, and then re-attached with my E-mail and password on file, which caused something "somewhere" to reset. As soon as it was attached, it downloaded a new work package. Everything seems hunky dory now. Ah computers. Everything is standardized but nothing works the same. James |

Any time you add a new project to the mix, it resets it's debt and since the newly installed R@h didn't have time debts to repay to other projects, it requested new Rosetta work. No biggie deal, but you aren't going to get the resource shares you had originally defined. You should not expect the BOINC Manager to always have work for every project. It will ebb and flow over time. Especially on machines that are not running 24 hours a day, are older (i.e. slow), or have many projects attached. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

I have 5 completed projects that are not loading. Is your server having problems? I have no problems with SETI and QMC |
