I am running client/manager 7.0.28(x64) on win 7. I am getting these errors with Rosetta. 3/17/2013 2:56:09 PM | rosetta@home | Restarting task rb_03_15_37632_71488__t000__0_C1_SAVE_ALL_OUT_IGNORE_THE_REST_76623_38_1 using minirosetta version 345 in slot 10 3/17/2013 2:56:30 PM | | Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 3/17/2013 2:56:47 PM | rosetta@home | Task rb_03_17_37082_70307_h001__lef8_IGNORE_THE_REST_05_09_76732_7_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 3/17/2013 2:56:47 PM | rosetta@home | If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 3/17/2013 2:56:47 PM | rosetta@home | Restarting task rb_03_17_37082_70307_h001__lef8_IGNORE_THE_REST_05_09_76732_7_1 using minirosetta version 345 in slot 14 3/17/2013 2:56:50 PM | rosetta@home | Task rb_03_15_37632_71488__t000__0_C1_SAVE_ALL_OUT_IGNORE_THE_REST_76623_38_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 3/17/2013 2:56:50 PM | rosetta@home | If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 3/17/2013 2:56:50 PM | rosetta@home | Restarting task rb_03_15_37632_71488__t000__0_C1_SAVE_ALL_OUT_IGNORE_THE_REST_76623_38_1 using minirosetta version 345 in slot 10 3/17/2013 2:56:55 PM | rosetta@home | Resetting project 3/17/2013 2:56:55 PM | rosetta@home | [error] Couldn't delete file projects/boinc.bakerlab.org_rosetta/minirosetta_3.45_windows_x86_64.exe.gzt I have tried resetting the project several times, as shown in the last line above one file will not delete. I can't find this file to delete manually. Also Rosetta seems to be running the hard drive continually and will not release it when I use the computer. Suspending the project seems to have stopped this problem. I am running SETI, Milkyway and WCG with no problems. Thanks |

Often WU errors like those are reported when the machine is shutdown to sleep or hibernation mode. Perhaps can't see the file to delete manually because of authorities to it? Disk usage may be due to use of memory. Your machine reports 8 CPUs and 4Gb of RAM. Are you running Rosetta on all at CPUs at the same time? If so, that may be leading to the operating system doing memory swapping. SETI and many WCG sub-projects have light memory requirements. Rosetta has heavy memory requirements. Don't know about MW. But if you should be able to setup resource shares that keep you running with a mix of work from several projects. Mixing 4 Rosetta tasks with 4 others might relieve some pressure on RAM. Often WU errors like those are reported when the machine is shutdown to sleep or hibernation mode. Thank you for the response. I don't use sleep or hibernation. In BONIC manager each of the four projects has 100(25%). I am running as administrator and have turned off hidden files. Something seems to have changed, I have been running the same setup for about two years. I didn't know Rosetta is heavy on memory, more memory would help overall. I will look into that. I have disallowed computing while computer is in use in preferences. I will see if Rosetta will finish, I may have to uninstall/reinstall all of Bonic. |

I have gone back to version 6.10.60 and Rosetta is running OK. Still don't know what happened. |

Projects still running past due date. Should I just abort projects not completed on completion date. This will make projects waiting in line run. I keep my 4 computers running 3am to 8pm automatically. I do not check them regularly. Need some help or answer to this. Thanks. joseps I turned off my 5computers when I went on vacation. When I return today, I can not upload work. Need work units to run computers. joseps |

Can you list what you have set in "computer preferences" under the Options menu of Boinc manager? Particularly the 1st tab - Computing - and 3rd tab - Disk and memory. It sounds like these preferences are inconsistent with the resources you have available. The defaults are very unhelpful imo |
