Greetings. I am not sure if I have the terminology correct here. I work on two projects: Rossetta@home and Seti@home. Each of these projects spawn 2-4 'processes' when I start BOINC. In preferences, I've set BOINC to use no more than 20% of my CPU, but in Activity Monitor I see that each of these processes uses 20%. How can I force them to only have one process a piece? Thanks in advance. Have a great day. |

You have a number of settings available to better control how CPU (and related memory) is used. You don't directly control CPUs by BOINC project. But you can, in addition to setting the % of CPU time, control the number of CPUs. Their is a setting for "on multiprocessor systems, use at most ___ % of processors". So if you have a 4-CPU machine and wish to allow BOINC to use two of them, you could set this to 50% of the processors. Then you could set the % of CPU time back to 100% if you are ok with BOINC having two active tasks, each running 100% of a CPU. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |
