On the boinc program under the " Work Tab " the " To Completion " time seems to always count upward. I understand that at the beginning of the workunit this may occur, but it seems to happen all the way through to the end of the workunit. Dennis |

the time to completion is an estimate.. when you get a work unit they tell your computer it should take about xx hours.. thats the number it starts with.. as it crunches the estimate then starts to change from what they say it will run to and become an estimation of what you have crunched so far the rest will take yy hours.. i know there is some avaraging and such there... its just like alot of other large processes they cant tell an exact time... if you watch your work unit go farther you will probaly see the time sudenly drop by a chunk of time (cant really say how much / chunk) but sooner or later you will get to a close time to finish. it could also be that your computer is running other tasks that are removeing the avalibility of the processer therfor takeing more time to complete the work unit.. its really hard to tell.. hopefully someone who knows more about this responds soon. and i hope my answer helps untill then |

This is definitely not the right place for this thread, being a BOINC issue and not having to do with the science... if you'll open a thread over in Number Crunching, where it'll be seen by the volunteers, we'll try our best to see what's going on. We'll need the "bottom half" of the page on your computer - all the "efficiency", "time boinc is running", "result duration correction factor", etc., so paste that in if you would. Thanks! |

Dennis, nasher, please see the number crunching thread with the same name, which I just created. I wanted to reply here, but moved the discussion there after I saw Bill's 'off topic' posting. Please add any further responses there... Thanks ,R~~ |
